About

I am a dedicated and qualified nurse, counsellor, special educator, trainer and lecturer. A caring and deeply committed professional, possessing excellent communication skills and trainer experience. I have used my experience and expertise over the years to work with women, children and adolescents in building their mental health and resilience. Promoting wellbeing demands self-awareness, a non-judgemental attitude, empathy, effective communication and facilitation skills, while always bearing in mind ‘the best interest of the child’. These are principles I incorporate into both, my personal and professional life. As the founder of Pledge Academy, a centre for counselling, special education and training, I work with the vision of creating a healthy, happy and just society through advocacy, awareness and service. I have had experience collaborating with St. John’s Research Institute on two key projects: capacity building of teachers and staff nurses within the school system to promote wellbeing among adolescents (10-18 years) in 73 residential schools spread across South India; and capacity building of first year nursing students (17-24 years) in Bangalore city, on reproductive and sexual health using the life skills approach.
