About

My name is Devika Kapoor and I am a Counseling Psychologist by training. I graduated from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai with a Master's in Counseling Psychology. I use psychosocial lens to view distress, this means that while working in therapy, I not only try and understand what personal traits might be causing the person distress but also spend a significant amount of time understanding what are the socio-political reasons for their distress. I also use strength based approach to counseling which means that we focus on what are the existing strengths and resources an individual has and how can we make use of those existing resources to overcome the distress and individual might be facing.

I am also trained in LGBTQ+ Affirmative practices. I have experience in dealing with varied issues like, Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Ideations, Body Image Issues, Relationship Concerns, Domestic Violence, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder and Substance Abuse/ Addiction.  I believe that therapy is a space where we collaboratively work towards reducing and managing distress and at the same time working towards personal growth and development.
